Lauren Ryals, originally from Denver, Colorado is currently based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The majority of her teaching career has been as a secondary instrumental music director and collegiate musical theater director. Lauren is a Music Education PhD student at Temple University and her research resides in trauma-informed music education and arts-based therapeutic and education practices in school settings. Lauren’s current projects include co-authoring a children’s music story book written in Farsi and English, her PhD dissertation work based in a trauma-informed school, and directing the music program at Nyaka, a school for AIDS orphans in Uganda.
