Mary Robinson, a native of the Philadelphia area, has been passionate about the oboe since her "love-at-first-sound" experience in middle school. Throughout high school, she won principal spots in several All South Jersey and All-State ensembles and was recipient of the SJBODA music scholarship. She went on to earn her bachelor and master of music in Oboe Performance from Houghton College and Temple University, respectively. Mary won the Greatbatch School of Music Presidential Scholarship as an entering freshman and the Presser Scholarship during her junior year at Houghton College. While at Temple University, she studied oboe and English horn with Jonathan Blumenfeld of The Philadelphia Orchestra while performing extensively with the Temple University Symphony Orchestra and the New School Woodwind Quintet. Mary served as principal oboe of the Chapel Hill Philharmonia and Raleigh Civic Orchestra and studied with Joseph Peters (North Carolina Symphony) during her time in NC. She also enjoys many playing opportunities in churches and hospitals.
