
This spring, Boyer students gained unique insight while attending the final room run and dress rehearsal for Gregory Spears' world premiere opera, Sleepers Awake, and participating in a master class with the composer. They also sang in feedback auditions, receiving valuable advice from artistic leadership in a major opera company. All of these were possible through the Temple University and Opera Philadelphia partnership launched just months ago.
In addition to these and future student opportunities, the college’s BCM&D Records label will record and release several recordings of new operas produced by Opera Philadelphia, beginning with the company’s two premieres this spring, Complications in Sue and Sleepers Awake.
