Space Request Guidelines

Music students and faculty in the Boyer College have unique needs for learning, teaching and rehearsing. The guidelines below have been created to ensure equitable access to our facilities.

Space requests will be prioritized first for coursework, then for lessons and ensembles, and finally for ad hoc requests.

Booking Practice Rooms and Modules

Students and faculty can reserve available practice rooms at any time without administrative approval.

There are two ways to book:

  1. Scan the QR code on the door to your desired practice room and follow the prompts to reserve.
  2. Use one of the following links to select a practice room in the building of your choice:

Presser Hall

  • Boyer students are limited to 2 hour-long slots per day, 8am – 5pm.

Rock Hall

  • Boyer students are limited to 2 hour-long slots / day, 8am – 5pm.
  • Keyboard students are permitted to reserve 4 hour-long slots per day pending room availability.

Ritter Hall

  • Boyer students are limited to 2 hour-long slots per day, 8am – 5pm.

Booking Music Studios, Classrooms and the Conference Room

These spaces require administrative approval via the Boyer Music Space Request Form. For ease of use, the form can be accessed directly by faculty, staff and students at any time.

Please submit requests at least 48 hours in advance whenever possible to allow time to process your request.

Same-day requests cannot always be accommodated due to the high volume of requests and reservations.

If you encounter any issues with the Boyer Music Space Request Form, please email .

Changing or Cancelling Requests

If you need to change or cancel a reservation, please email BoyerRes@temple.edu so that we can adjust your reservation or make the space available to another faculty member or student.

Ensembles

Academic ensembles

Students reserving space for academic ensembles--those attached to course registration--can request up to 4 hours per week (on a recurring basis, if desired) for ensemble rehearsals.

Non-academic ensembles

In order to use Boyer music facilities, non-academic ensembles must first complete a Permission Form, signed by a Boyer Faculty Sponsor as well as the CPCA Dean of Facilities and Administrative Affairs, Eric Schweingruber. Please contact Lead Administrative Specialist, Shahara Benson to complete this process.

After completing the Permission Form, students reserving space for non-academic ensembles may request to use Boyer music facilities up to 2 hours per week.

To assist in prioritizing academic ensembles and coursework, rehearsals for non-academic ensembles must take place after 6pm.

Lost and Found

The lost and found is in the main office of Presser Hall (Presser Hall 129) and the student office of Rock Hall (Rock Hall 119).

Restoring spaces

To ensure that the Boyer community has access to well-maintained facilities, please adhere to the following guidelines and, in general, leave a space better than how you found it:

  • Restore chairs and music stands the way they were found or store them in an organized manner, i.e. not scattered throughout the room.
  • Log out of electronic devices in the space.
  • Shut down power to amps and computers (unless otherwise noted).
  • Erase chalkboards and dry erase boards.
  • Close all windows.
  • Dispose of any trash in proper receptacles.
  • If any facilities are found broken or in a serious state of disarray, please contact Assistant Dean of Facilities and Administrative Affairs, .
