Created in 1968 through a partnership of Temple University, the Philadelphia School District, and Settlement Music School, this program seeks to support public school music programs by providing individual instrumental instruction and other activities for students and families with limited financial means. Currently, 200 students participate with over 65 Philadelphia public schools represented.

In addition to individual lessons and music theory classes, students can participate in large performing ensembles including two jazz bands, two string orchestras, and a wind ensemble. Piano, guitar and voice instruction are not offered.

All groups and lessons meet at Temple University Main Campus on Saturday mornings, September - May.
