On March 18, the Temple University Symphony Orchestra and Choirs presented their 22nd annual concert at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts.
This year's concert was a true Temple affair, as Dean Robert T. Stroker and the Boyer College of Music and Dance presented the 2025 Boyer College Tribute Award to Temple Chancellor Richard M. Englert, in recognition of his enduring support for the arts and arts education at the University.
Following opening remarks and the award presentation, Associate Professor Paul Rardin, who retires at the conclusion of the 24-25 academic year, led the orchestra and choirs' performance of Poulenc's Gloria in his final Kimmel concert as Elaine Brown Chair of Choral Music at Temple. Felicity Alexandra, a second-year master's student in voice, was the featured soloist on the work.
On the second half of the concert, Maestro José Luis Domínguez conducted Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture and Respighi's Pines of Rome, two classics from the symphonic orchestral repertoire. The choirs rejoined the orchestra for an encore performance of the well-known "O Fortuna" from Carl Orff's Carmina Burana.
Congratulations and thank you to all of the students, faculty and staff who made this annual tradition a success!
