POSITION: Full-time non-tenure track appointment in Vocal Arts - Opera Vocal Coach
RANK/SALARY: Instructor, Assistant, or Associate Professor. Rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Boyer College of Music and Dance seeks a vocal coach with professional performance and university teaching experience. Duties include: serve as principal coach for two mainstage operas and opera workshop classes; coach graduate voice students in audition repertoire; work closely with graduate students in the collaborative piano/opera coaching degree program. Possible additional responsibilities may include teaching courses in diction, operatic literature, collaborative piano/opera coaching, and/or other areas of within the applicant’s expertise.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completed doctoral degree and/or professional experience preferred
- University teaching experience required
- Coaching experience in a professional opera company and/or university opera program preferred
- Demonstrated ability to play and coach standard operatic repertoire
- Extensive knowledge of and ability to teach English, French, Italian, and German Diction for singers
- Outstanding keyboard and collaborative skills
- Commitment to working effectively with Temple’s diverse population

POSITION: Full-time non-tenure track appointment in Music Technology (Music Studies Department)
RANK/SALARY: Assistant Professor in Music Technology. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Department of Music Studies seeks a qualified individual to serve as a full-time non-tenure track faculty member of Music Technology within the Department of Music Studies. Courses taught will be undergraduate and graduate courses in music technology.
QUALIFICATIONS: Doctorate or commensurate professional experience preferred in Music Technology or in a related field in music with significant advanced coursework and/or professional activity in music technology. The successful candidate will have at least three years of successful teaching experience at the college level, expertise in recording arts and music production, and would be able to contribute to teaching courses in one or more of the following areas: audio and music production, sound recording and editing, digital signal processing, psychoacoustics, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate final projects in music technology. Secondary areas could include: audio software design, Live Sound, sound synthesis, modular synthesizers, computer programming, scoring and audio design for film, digital media, and video games, music printing, physical computing/electronic instrument design, and electronic music performance. Candidates should have expertise in a diverse range of musical styles, such as club music, hip-hop, pop, rock, classical, and jazz.

POSITION: Full-time, non-tenure-track appointment in Musicology (Music Studies Department)
RANK/SALARY: Assistant Professor of Musicology. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Boyer College of Music and Dance seeks a musicologist to teach students in all of Boyer’s music programs. The teaching assignment will include, but is not restricted to, undergraduate courses in the music history sequence, undergraduate writing-intensive courses in the candidate’s area of expertise, and graduate seminars. Candidates will also be expected to mentor students, supervise teaching assistants, and perform faculty service.
QUALIFICATIONS: A completed doctoral degree in musicology is required by the time the appointment is made. The ideal candidate will have an emerging scholarly reputation or strong promise. A primary area of expertise in one or more of the following categories is preferred: 19th-century music, non-Western music, and/or the use of technology in musicological research. Candidates must be able to engage talented musicians in a variety of majors: performance (jazz, popular, classical), musicology, music theory, music technology, composition, music therapy, music education, and dance. A record of outstanding teaching is required.
